Job Opportunity - Manager, Communications and Marketing

Our client, Roots of Empathy, is an award-winning, non-profit Canadian social enterprise with national and international programs in the field of child development, is looking for a Manager, Communications and Marketing.  Working with the President and Marketing Strategist, this new role will facilitate the implementation of the marketing and communications plan and functions for ROE.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Developing and implementing communications and marketing initiatives aligned to organizational objectives
• Articulating key messages through the website, promotional materials, the media and special events.
• Oversee social media strategy and policies
• Management and oversight of a variety of communications initiatives, newsletters and publications
• Managing all media relations
• Providing support to provincial, national and international offices with communications, policies/procedures and media relations
• Overseeing the website; content and technology
• Overseeing the marketing database
• Managing and producing the annual report
• Maintaining a library of communications’ pieces, including current biographical data and the filing and recording of all media related to the organization.
• Developing and managing the communications budget
• Supervising the communications team

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Minimum undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline
• 3-5 years managing a marketing or communications function
• Experience within the NFP environment is preferred.
• Exceptional communications stills; very strong writing and editing abilities
• Solid experience in the following areas:
  - media relations
  - website management: content and technology
  - social media
  - marketing databases, (fund raising database experience, an asset)
  - budgets
  - operational and people management
• Experience with brand management would be an asset
